Bolstering hopes that wearable technology can help patients detect health problems they might not otherwise be aware of, the American College of Cardiology announced at their 2019 conference in New Orleans some promising results of a study into the heart monitoring function on the newest Apple Watch and its corresponding app. The Watch uses single lead electrocardiogram to monitor the heart rhythm and detect an irregular heartbeat. The study aimed to identify participants with an irregular pulse notification from the Watch and who had Afib confirmed in later heart monitoring.
